KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEYS WHO WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN YOUR CASE

Greeley Car Accident Attorneys

Hurt in a crash? The consultation is free, and you talk with an attorney, not an intake desk.

CONTACT AN ATTORNEY

A crash can leave you with medical bills, a damaged car and missed work, while the other driver's insurance company calls asking for a statement. We handle the claim and the insurers so you can focus on getting better.

From our Greeley office we represent people hurt in crashes along the entire Front Range and across Colorado. Whether your claim is worth a few thousand dollars or several million, you work with an attorney who knows your file from the first call to the last check. If insurance companies play games with us, they get sued.

Car accident cases we handle

What it costs

The consultation is free, and we take car accident cases on a contingency fee: the fee is a percentage of what we recover, agreed in writing before we start, with no hourly bill. If there is no recovery you owe no attorney fee; a client may still be responsible for case costs, and for the other side's attorney fees if a court orders them.

Our representative cases include settlements of more than $4,900,000 and more than $2,500,000 for injured clients. Every case turns on its own facts; a past result does not predict or promise the outcome of any other matter.

What to do after a car accident

  1. Get checked by a doctor, even if you feel fine. Neck, back and head injuries often show up days later, and that first visit is part of the record.
  2. Call the police and write down the report number.
  3. Take photos of both cars, the scene and your injuries, and get the names and numbers of any witnesses.
  4. Tell your own insurer promptly, as your policy requires. You do not have to give the other driver's insurer a recorded statement.
  5. Keep every bill and receipt, and a note of each day of work you miss.
  6. Call us before you sign anything or accept an offer.

Car accident questions

How long do I have to file a claim?

For most injuries from a car crash, three years from the date of the accident (C.R.S. 13-80-101(1)(n)). A claim for a death has two years (C.R.S. 13-80-102(1)(d)). If a city, county or state vehicle hit you, written notice is due within 182 days (C.R.S. 24-10-109). Evidence fades long before any of those deadlines, so call early.

Who pays my medical bills while the claim is open?

Colorado is an at-fault state: the driver who caused the crash, through their insurer, is responsible for your losses. That insurer usually pays once, at the end. Until then, your bills go to your own medical payments coverage if your policy has it, and then to your health insurance. We sort out who is repaid from the settlement.

What if the other driver had no insurance, or not enough?

Colorado requires only $25,000 per person in bodily injury coverage, which a serious injury exceeds quickly. Your own uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage can make up the difference. Colorado insurers must offer it, and it is on your policy unless you turned it down in writing (C.R.S. 10-4-609). We review every policy that might apply.

What if the crash was partly my fault?

You can still recover if your share of the fault is less than the other driver's, but your damages are reduced by your percentage. At 50 percent or more, you recover nothing (C.R.S. 13-21-111). That is why insurers argue so hard about fault, and why photos and witnesses from the scene matter.

Should I accept the insurance company's first offer?

Not before you know the full cost of your injuries. Once you sign a release, the claim is over, even if you need surgery later. We wait until your treatment shows the whole picture, then negotiate, and we file suit if the offer is not fair.
